The program could quickly grow to several hundred participants based on the high interest from families who’ve participated in MCT’s “Little Red Truck” traveling theater workshops, which have been everywhere in the United States and several other nations.

“We’re asking at this stage of the game nothing but your blessing to keep working on it,” Caron told members of the MCPS Curriculum and Instruction Committee. “It’s at the discussion stage, and I think we’re at least a year and a half out. I could see us with 500 to 600 students in a few years.”

MCT has been touring for more than 35 years, visiting more than 1,200 communities annually in all 50 states, four Canadian provinces and 16 countries.

Not everyone gets through customs with skunks, cow bells, horsemen, castle walls and strange looking wax scars in tow. But the Montana-based Missoula Children’s Theatre http://www.mctinc.org company has done just that as it takes on the challenge of getting a Limerick, Ireland city school ready in just four days to host its own musical.

“I think MCT is one of the best and most easily exported artistic products we have in Montana,” said Sutton. “They already have extensive experience traveling overseas, and so this made sense as a way to really help them expand their business model and find more diverse income streams.”
