The county commission decided last week to put out a request for proposals for a new software provider by mid-August.

The department has done it again — cutting nearly $600,000 from its IT budget — with its Cost Reduction/Investment Blog that lets employees make budgetary suggestions.

The new site features user-friendly navigation tools and improved access to information including business scam alerts, elections updates, and the latest office news.

"The best blogs are ones that carry a personal point of view, reveal what an elected official is thinking and have a little bit of personality and edge to them," Schrier said.

The city of Bozeman abruptly suspended the practice Friday, saying it ‘appears to have exceeded that which is acceptable to our community.’

The Office for Technology is leading the way.

The car registration and titling computer system was restarted Wednesday after a two-day shutdown to fix critical issues, but lingering bugs left local clerks frustrated as vehicle owners were forced in some places to stand in long lines.

"It will probably be two-to-three months before it will really be at the level that we want," said Larry Fasbender, deputy director at the agency.

The event, called the Gov 2.0 Expo Showcase, is encouraging government-technology architects, managers, and other leaders to step forward with their real-world projects.
