Summer means exploring our state, and at Prairie Populist we’re joining the thousands of Montanans visiting the amazing lands, lakes, and historical sites that make up Montana’s state parks.

There’s a thriving community of surfers in Missoula, Montana — hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean. They take to the state’s rushing rivers to catch some waves.

Friede wants tourists to know the vast majority of the park is open, including all the scenic spots east of the Divide.

With forests, mountains and Native American reservations nearby, this town is a goldmine for the adventurous, and there’s a homespun arts scene, too
