University Business Plan Competitions

Now in its 18th year, the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition serves as an economic barometer for emerging markets that are getting funded by venture capitalists.

The finalists, who recently competed for more than $70,000 in prize money as well as the prestige of a competition gaining national attention, offered an array of proposed business ventures.

The 18th Annual Business Plan Competition will be held on May 10, 2007 and will include $35,000 in prizes.

There are other components of a winning presentation, but I found it interesting that the judges utilized these points to help differentiate among five competitive deals.

The competition invites students from across Montana to present their plans to a group of outstanding business and community leaders.

BYU, the University of California at Berkeley, New York University, the University of Virginia and the University of Texas were chosen to compete in the national finals in March.

“Not winning wasn’t a big deal,” he said. “Just because you don’t answer the judges’ questions perfectly that day should not be a reason to quit your entrepreneurial aspirations.”

As part of an annual worldwide competition, 150 college students gathered in Seattle on Thursday to tell panels of judges what they’ve done this school year to create economic opportunity for others.

The Business Plan Competition Final Event pitted three teams against each other for a final prize of $52,500 to help the winners launch their dream business. This year’s winning team proposed a hybrid company, Calle, which merges the performance and fashion industries by selling clothing and equipment for street soccer.
