A product created in a University of Idaho laboratory to measure biodiesel blend levels was the winner of the business plan competition.

The competition invites students from across Montana to present their business plans to a group of outstanding business and community leaders.

Each team was given one minute to describe its business plan. Watch the top pitches.

"Participating in the Business Plan Competition gave us the opportunity to define our company and solidify the necessary steps to be successful," says Ben Maughan, Klymit chief financial officer. "We were connected with great mentors who helped us identify the strengths and opportunities for this technology."

By participating on a team in The Mid-Atlantic Business Plan Competition, a student entrepreneur gains valuable insight to the challenges faced by businesspeople in startup companies.

The ultimate goal is to encourage students to launch new technology-based businesses that can improve the well-being of the world. Specific areas of interest include Bioenergy, and Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energies.

The winning teams will take away more than $54,000 in startup capital and awards. The event is open to the public.

It was the first competition of its kind for MBA students and is still considered the most prestigious in the world.

The 2008 competition will welcome 36 of the worlds’ top MBA/graduate schools to compete at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in front of a judging panel of over 150 venture capitalists, investors, and business executives.
