“This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop, low-cost service between Idaho Falls and Los Angeles,” Allegiant chairman and CEO Maurice J. Gallagher said.

Residents of south-central Idaho are joining legions of consumers who no longer have a landline phone in their home, opting instead for the freedom of cellular phones and high-speed internet.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this funding opportunity as it allows us to advance planned technology projects which improve our grid and provide customers with more information to make better energy consumption choices,” said Dan Minor, executive vice president of Operations for Idaho Power.

Twenty companies doing business in the state will be honored this year as part of the annual Best Places to Work in Idaho program.

"It is such a nice place to live," he said. "I met some southern California defense contractors who have heard about the area. They are very interested."

Idaho firm’s gear saves water, energy, money

The award recognizes exemplary companies worldwide that further the boundaries of contactless technology through product introduction or pilot programs.

The project intends to directly connect 42 anchor institutions, including healthcare facilities, emergency response agencies, libraries, and government offices, as well as institutions serving the Nez Perce Tribe.

"Attracting a major meeting, convention or sporting event has a tremendous impact on our local economy," said Executive Director Bobbie Patterson. "We want to give them the extra attention they need."
