The Great Falls Development Authority http://www.gfdevelopment.org/ is conducting a market survey to assess the demand and need for establishing a certified kitchen processing facility and/or mobile equipment and/or a system to share existing equipment among businesses in the Great Falls area.

A certified processing facility and/or mobile equipment and/or a system to share existing equipment would be available for use by local growers and producers of raw food products who want to add value to the products and those individuals who want to sell their baked or canned food products to stores, restaurants, or to the general public at farmers’ markets.

The Development Authority’s long-term vision for Great Falls, to which the branding process is tied, is that the city will be known around the west for having a diversified economy, job opportunities and for being a hub for business innovation and energy.

"Initially they would employ 25 to 30 workers and then grow to 50," said Brett Doney, president of the GFDA.

"We have four businesses that are close to wanting lots," said Brett Doney, president of the GFDA. "There is pent up demand and I think the first two years after we get the park ready, with infrastructure, we’ll sell six lots. There is just nothing else available now to meet this demand."

The survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, asks about everything from the business climate and Great Falls’ assets to perceived community perceptions and attitudes.

The plan includes seven major themes, with particular goals for the first two years in each theme. The ideas were derived from two recent brainstorming sessions, GFDA President Brett Doney said.

All who live and work in Great Falls are invited and encouraged to participate in this important community-wide initiative.

He said Allegiant airline officials told him they plan to add 40 more flights to Great Falls between February and April of next year — an increase of about 6,000 airline seats over the same time frame in 2011.
