Forty-one 5th grade students at Russell Elementary School become the first individual class in the United States to complete a virtual trek across America during one school year (3,200 miles, 15 states).

The accomplishment equates to an average of 78 miles per child, or the equivalent of 3 marathons each!

The program strives to be a model for institutional local and regional food purchasing which supports local economies, preserves agricultural heritage and provides healthy, fresh, delicious food to the campus community.

“I like Montana,” said Robert, “so I’ll probably teach in the state, and it will probably be high school band.” His program at UM, said Robert, has a 100 percent placement success rate for students making the grade the first year. This summer he plans on returning home to Kiowa and help out with the family business.

MSU professor, Steve Shaw hopes to train better engineers with prestigious $400,000 award

The money comes in the form of a National Science Foundation Career award, one of the most prestigious awards the NSF bestows. Shaw plans on using some of the money to make Montana students better engineers in a world where even ideas are being globalized. The award also ties together much of what has been on his mind of late.

Montana Tech environmental design team nabs first places in national competition

At the WERC consortium, judges handed out three first-place trophies to Tech engineering, chemistry, occupational safety and communication majors.

University of Montana student, Hank Green, launches "EcoGeek", a site devoted to "exploring the symbiosis between nature and technology."

Hank wasn’t even in the journalism school – he was pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies – but he was very tech-savvy, and very serious about his idea.
