The program, called the Montana Nutrition and Physical Activity Program to Prevent Obesity and Other Chronic Diseases, is administered by Montana State University.

“Montana Tech is a small school with an excellent curriculum in science and engineering, complete with small classes, lots of personal attention, many internship opportunities, nearby recreation, and post-graduate success.” In Tech’s profile under the “Survey Says …” category, students said Tech has “great computer facilities” and that “career services are great.”

Five Montana State University College of Business alumni and one Graphic Design alumnus from Arts & Architecture have developed a website that capitalizes on the collective capabilities and experience of anglers to create a robust catalog of up-to-date fishing information, allowing anglers to become fish smart!

In the future, they’ll work for various port authorities in their respective countries or for the training’s sponsor, APM Terminals, which operates more than 50 facilities in 31 countries.

The programs help kids who are from low-income families or are first-generation college-bound students discover their potential and the opportunities available to them.

“I think it is really exciting and wonderful,” said Katie Pritchard, a member of the group. “We’ve made ripples in the country and that’s really humbling.”

"I hope every Montana student takes advantage of the opportunity to become involved in their communities through community service. Montana needs their energy, enthusiasm and leadership," said Governor Brian Schweitzer.

The Rob and Terry Ryan grant has allowed me to purchase the type of technology that allows my students to easily and very successfully gather data that leads them to some of the most essential principles in chemistry and physics.

We recognize that collaboration on e-learning initiatives at a somewhat high level does not apply to everyone, nor should it. However, in a state as large as Montana—with a central system of eight campuses plus three community colleges—we need to look at what we can do better together to develop and deliver high-quality online education to our students and citizens.

"Most nursing students are being prepared well in the technical aspects of the job, but many go from an academic setting into the work world lacking some of the ‘soft skills’ needed to survive and succeed."
