The Big Sky Carbon Sequestration Partnership and
the Keystone Center will host a free, two-day, professional training seminar
in Billings on Aug. 19-20 for Montana teachers to help them learn how to
teach students about climate change.

One issue the regents have discussed but taken no action on is whether to raise the MSU president’s pay, $205,050. Though high by Montana standards, it’s low compared to university presidents’ pay in neighboring states n Idaho, Wyoming and the Dakotas. It’s the lowest in the nation among universities granting Ph.D.s and conducting substantial research.

“In the coming years, jobs requiring at least an associate degree are projected to grow twice as fast as jobs requiring no college experience,” Obama said. “We will not fill those jobs, or even keep those jobs here in America, without the training offered by community colleges.”

The spring 2009 cohort (141 students) scored in the 96th percentile overall.

Eight universities and colleges across Montana have entered into Yellow Ribbon Program agreements with the Department of Veterans Affairs to allow veterans participating in the Post-9/11 GI Bill program to attend college for free.

Montana State University computer engineering students will soon have the ability to control real laboratory equipment from the convenience and comfort of their home computers, thanks to a $148,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
