Affordable homes out of reach for many in Kalispell and the Flathead Valley of Montana

There is a waiting list of 1,100 families in Flathead, Lake, Lincoln and Sanders counties to receive federal Section 8 vouchers — several times the number of vouchers available. Section 8 vouchers are federal subsidies to families to pay a portion of their rents so they afford places to live.
