Butte is known to have just about anything Irish but there’s one thing that’s been missing, a family-friendly Irish restaurant. That is, until now.

Born and raised in Ireland before moving to America in 2003, the man known to one and all as Irish Johnny has always had a fascination with the Mining City.

Once open, O’Donnell’s American Grill and Irish Pub will be a place where everyone can have classic Irish dishes like bangers and mash, and fish and chips 365 days a year while being surrounded by an array of memorabilia of Butte, Ireland, and first responders.

Johnny gave a stirring closing day presentation to the Fall 2023 MEDA conference in Butte in November.

Johnny Gollogly of Shawn O’Donnell’s Pub told his story of choosing Butte (or maybe Butte choosing him) as a new location for a Shawn O’Donnell’s Pub. His passion for Butte made us all wish that we called Butte home. It was a story of economic development at its finest, and highlighted the value of welcoming folks to our communities with open arms.
