Two Anaconda companies are working together to form Discover Anaconda in the hopes of focusing on more tourism opportunities.

Anaconda Local Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce have decided to merge their companies after one of the busiest tourist seasons they’ve seen in three years.

“There are all sorts of things you can do within 20 to 30 minutes away,” said Anaconda tourism director Mary Johnston. “This last summer was the biggest summer we’ve had — even bigger than the 100-year celebration for the smelter stack.”
