Two new solar array projects planned for Montana and South Dakota

NorthWestern+Energy

Montana Sun Solar’s 80MW project is situated on a 489-acre location in Yellowstone County, Montana. The 80MW Fall River Solar project will be built on a 500-acre plot of land in Fall River County, South Dakota. Both projects will commence construction in the fourth quarter of 2021 and are expected to be operational in December 2022. The two solar facilities, when built, will be among the biggest in their respective states. Long-term power purchase agreements have been signed for both projects with local investment-grade utilities: Montana Sun with Northwestern Energy and Fall River with Black Hills Power. Greenbacker purchased both projects from Broad Reach Power (BRP) as part of its aim to buy and operate large-scale utility solar plant.
