Telling Powerful Stories – Missoula’s Tree and Sky Institute

In a previous post, I talked about the positive impact that spirituality and faith can have on environmental efforts. Another piece of the pie of motivation for pro-environmental behavior is storytelling. Using stories to communicate environmental issues is a powerful tool for inspiring, motivating and guiding others to find their own connections with the environment and to act upon those connections. Tree & Sky Institute http://www.treeandsky.org/ is an organization that is doing just that, using the power of stories to inspire, motivate, educate and create change. Co-Founded by Rob Whitehair and Pam Voth, the organization is founded on the principle of telling stories through media and art while working to "re-imagine our relationship with the natural world through science and spirituality." I spoke with Rob about Tree & Sky Institute, the power of storytelling and their first major project, a documentary film dealing with Spiritual Ecology entitled The Book of Tree.
