Small town newspapers embrace new models of running their operations, including non-profit and co-op alternatives, in response to a hedge-fund monopolized local news landscapes.
“We think that the conditions for creating community-supported local news probably exist more than we realize in most rural American communities.”

The Missoula Current

We’re striving for 500 new $5 monthly contributors – a reasonable goal in a metro of 100,000 people. The Missoula Current is a locally owned news organization founded in 2015. We’ve spent the past two years improving our platform and adding hours to our reporting team. We’re also free to read and that won’t change.

But it’s time to take the next step and with your monthly contribution, we’ll continue growing our staff, expanding our quality local coverage, and we’ll keep the Missoula Current free to all readers. It’s hard work, but Missoula deserves it.

At this time, only recurring monthly contributions can be processed through this page. There are three ways to make one time contributions: 1) Mail a check to PO Box 2935, Missoula, MT 59806; 2) Send contribution through Paypal to [email protected]; 3) Contact [email protected] for debit/credit processing (include amount).

Any way you choose to contribute, your support is appreciated.
