HEADWATERS RC&D, INC. ANNOUNCES NEW FARM PROGRAM, FOOD ALLIANCE OF RURAL MONTANA.

Butte, Montana – Headwaters RC&D is incredibly excited to announce the start of its new FARM program, Food Alliance of Rural Montana. The new program fills the void in Southwestern Montana that is no longer served by the Food and Ag Development Network.  The program is designed to support food and agriculture producers and processors with business needs, food safety trainings, marketing and product development with the goal of growing the statewide trend of local food that is centered in Southwestern Montana.

“We recognize the importance of local food both to our families as well as to our local economy” says Joe Willauer, BLDC/Headwaters Executive Director and local food champion, “Food and Agriculture is critical to the success of all of our communities, whether it’s a brewery in Bozeman, a potato farmer in Whitehall, or a cattle rancher in Anaconda, these jobs not only grow our towns but feed our families the healthiest, freshest food in Montana.”

The first FARM sponsored event is their annual Hops Summit, Friday, October 13th, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Montana Manufacturing Extension Center in Bozeman, MT. The Food Alliance of Rural Montana has partnered with local hops growers and brewers to build on their successful summit in 2016.   The summit will include industry experts, growers, funding partners and a brewery panel focused on getting hops to market.  The event will be followed up by a “Fund Your Food Business” training on October 26th also at MMEC.

For more information about this program, please contact Jené Matzkanin, Headwaters RC&D at 406-533-6781 or [email protected].
