Entrepreneurs invited to show their stuff at Boise Venture Forum- 10/2-3

Calling all good business ideas.

The Boise Metro Economic Development Council put out the word
Thursday that it´s now looking for entrepreneurial presenters for its
4th Annual Intermountain Venture Forum in Boise.

This year´s forum — designed to give entrepreneurs and venture
capital investors the opportunity to mingle — will be held Oct. 2-3 at
the Boise Centre on The Grove.

“Idaho and this region have had a rich history of pioneering and
invention,” said Shirl Boyce, vice president of the Economic
Development Council. “Despite the sagging economy, the inventors
are still inventing. Our job is to give these entrepreneurs every
opportunity to succeed.”

Each fall, the committee, a division of the Boise Metro Chamber of
Commerce, hosts the event. Each year it attracts entrepreneurs and investors from
throughout the Intermountain West and Pacific Northwest.

Nick Miller, chairman of the Chamber´s Venture Capital Committee, said the forum has been
growing in size and reputation. “Four years ago, the event was only a third of the size it was
last year,” Miller said. “This year we expanded the format to enable the participants to spend
more time networking and devising ways to assist each other.”

Miller said the significance of the forum is hard to overestimate since the region is often
overlooked by larger firms.

Those wishing to present a business plan must turn in applications at the Economic
Development Council offices by Aug. 21.
