New for 2005: Competition for best investment prospect with a $100,000 winner-take-all prize!

Angel Oregon is the Northwest’s premier education and networking event for Oregon-based angel investors and early-stage entrepreneurs. The conference is educational in focus — how angel investment works, who can invest as an angel, what things angels should look for when performing due diligence, and so on. In addition to panel discussions, attendees witness companies pitching to a group of investors, who respond by questioning the presenters and their business model.

In 2005, there’s a new wrinkle to the program: Companies applying to present at Angel Oregon will be automatically entered into a competition for the best investment prospect for angels. Three finalists will present their business model and answer questions at the conference, and the winner is entitled to a $100,000 investment from a diversified team of local angel investors.

The quality of Angel Oregon’s presentations, panelists, keynote speakers, and resource material has made it the leading private equity conference in the Northwest. Angel investors of note from Seattle, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, Austin, and Portland have led panels, and keynote speakers have included Keith Grinstein of Seattle (initial investor in Amazon.com) and Oliver Curme of Battery Ventures in Boston. The innovative and interactive presentations walk would-be angels through the early investigation of a company’s business plan.

Angel Oregon 2005 will once again focus on legal and business strategies for prospective angel investors, supported by topical discussions and interactive presentations. The attendance at this conference is expected to be greater than 400 angels, potential angels, entrepreneurs, and supporters of OEF.
