Bozeman refunds Montana State University $504K for water conservation

Montana State University is set to get more than half a million dollars back from the city of Bozeman and a break on building fees after the school cut its water use by 14 million gallons a year.

Montana State is by far the city’s largest customer when it comes to water and wastewater services. The school uses about 10 percent of what Bozeman water and wastewater treatment can handle each year.

City planner Chris Saunders said MSU’s water cut on campus leaves more room for the city’s future needs.
