Why tech transfer brings companies ‘more than innovation’

Bozeman, Mont. (July 26, 2021) – Technology transfer – the process of moving research from the lab to the market – provides intrinsic benefits to companies that go beyond potential revenues from new products and services.

According to business leaders who have closed tech transfer deals (patent licenses and CRADAs) with federal labs, the upsides can include intellectual property rights (levels of exclusivity in the market), working relationships with scientists and engineers (inventors), crucial technical data, prototype test results, and business intelligence about trends in federal research that can help executives position their companies for contracts.
