What’s going to happen to Formula One when it goes fully electric, and today’s lack of overtaking is added to tomorrow’s lack of sound to create the fastest yawn-fest on wheels? McLaren has been thinking a lot about how to save premier-tier motorsport in the future, and has presented a vision for a 2050 electric Grand Prix.

    While I am a passionate car and race enthusiast, I believe McLaren is wrong. If racing still exists, the date should be 2030. Even then, I believe the end of carcatecture (the focus on cars in every aspect of our lives) will make racing a thing of the past due to completely autonomous travel which will make drivers having any control at all too dangerous.
