| The classic Montana novel gets a new adaptation “Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.” Did you get chills? Do you know exactly what novella this is in reference to? Hint, it’s the last five words of the quote. Well, if you’re unfamiliar with Norman Maclean’s iconic work, there’s a new way to consume it coming to a stage near you (in the understanding that in Montana, everything is both close by, and very far away simultaneously.) Opera Montana commissioned an adaptation of “A River Runs Through It,” and the show will premiere in Bozeman this fall. The all-star cast for the show, comprising Broadway and Metropolitan Opera performers, visited Montana last year for a workshop and went on a guided fly fishing trip to more closely embody a main theme of the novel. “It was such a warm, fuzzy, bonding experience among the cast and creative team,” Opera Montana General Director Susan Miller told the Daily Montanan. “Basically, it brought all the right magic of the experience … which they will have through rehearsals, and the production is going to be a magical show.” ~ Micah Drew |
