    Montana has a huge untapped potential resource in the number of influential and successful people who come here to recreate or spend a week or two at their second (third, fourth or ?) home.

    Over the years, I’ve asked some of our prominent, but not visible, visitors, VC’s especially, why they’ve never been involved in Montana’s economy. “No one has ever asked me.”

    For several years, I’ve tried to encourage Montana officials, economic developers or anyone else who would listen to try a pilot program where custom boxes of Made in Montana products would be left in the rooms or delivered to homes of high level executives, investors, etc. who are visiting Montana with a note – “Welcome to Montana”. It would include contact info for a couple of Montanans with an invitation to learn more about what Montana offers. Could also be a subscription service for alums and others who would love to live in Montana but aren’t aware of job or company location opportunities. I have yet to get any response.

    Now Scotland is doing it as a subscription.

    Why not a Made in Montana box to encourage economic development?
