Victor Schools venture toward progress. ‘No problems’ with shortened school week

So far so good. That is what Victor school officials are saying about the new four-day school week which has been underway for a little more than a week.

“It seems to be working quite well,” Superintendent Orville Getz said Wednesday.

School officials, however, said they are getting very little feedback from parents. One parent who attended Tuesday’s regular school board meeting did say the change to a shortened schedule was a positive one for her children, Getz said.

School officials are curious what parents are doing with their kids on Fridays when school is not in session.

Bitterroot Church of the Nazarene, which is about a block from the grade school, offered its building as a place for parents to bring their students on Fridays for $10 a day. The church has places for students to participate in activities from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and staff to monitor them or help them with their homework. Only one parent brought a child last Friday, though.
