VA discoveries for treating lethal glioblastomas ready for development partner

The VA is now looking for commercial partners to advance three recent discoveries into new therapies for veterans and civilians.

When treating cancerous tumors of the central nervous system, glioblastomas, care teams usually measure success in months, not years. Only 10% of people diagnosed with glioblastoma in the Unites States survive after five years, and most die within 15 to 18 months. By comparison, the overall U.S. five-year cancer survival rate is 70%, and higher than 90% for some cancers.

Research company Future Market Insights Inc. reports: “The glioblastoma treatment drugs market remains one of the most active and high-need oncology spaces, driven by limited survival outcomes, high relapse rates, and the urgent need for novel therapeutic options.”

Future Insights foresees the market for glioblastoma drugs expanding at a compound average growth rate of 5.7% through 2035.

The need for better glioblastoma therapies is urgent, and private sector companies can license these inventions for further development. Working with technology transfer agency TechLink can make the process easier.

TechLink is the national partner the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and its specialists guide businesses through the technology evaluation and licensing process at no cost.
