Tourism makes big impact in Montana
In 2017, Montana attracted more than 12.5 million non-resident visitors. They generated $105 million in state and local taxes. That amounted to each Montana household paying $491 less in taxes.
The financial impact of tourism in Montana can be felt throughout the state, said Dax Schieffer, director of Voices of Montana Tourism http://www.voicesoftourism.com/ , during a presentation at the Sidney Kiwanis Club last week.
"The numbers are strong right now," Schieffer said of tourism in the state.
The goal of Voices of Montana Tourism http://www.voicesoftourism.com/ is to educate all Montanans on the value of tourism. Schieffer, a native of Sidney, notes that he travels to communities to explain tourism’s impact.
