There has been a lot of talk about how South Dakota has been doing in the current recession, especially when it comes to how it is doing in relation to other areas of the United States.

Much of that discussion has been spurred by the ad campaign in which Mayor Alan Hanks gives the message "Life is good in Rapid City." Rarely does a message of good will bring such criticism, but as the nation continues to weather the current economic storm and the worst of it may still lie ahead, an edginess has arisen that is uncommon.
