“Tell Us Something” – The Next Live Event and Board Recruitment News

As I wrote thank you cards to donors who supported Tell Us Something during Missoula Gives, I was overcome with gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community to keep Tell Us Something going. 80 donors gave a combined total of $5,561 to Tell Us Something during this year’s Missoula Gives. THANK YOU!

Altogether, over 4,000 people supported 164 participating nonprofits and raised over $1.2 Million dollars to benefit our Missoula community. That is AMAZING! Y’all rock!

The biggest question that I am getting is “When is the next Tell Us Something event?” Help me decide. It isn’t an easy question to answer. Please complete a survey to help as I navigate the decision-making process on when the next in-person event will be.

The work right now is building out the board as Tell Us Something prepares to leave the nest of the Missoula Community Foundation. I’ve been focused on building out the bylaws. We are in draft 2 of the bylaws.

As of December 2019, I had a full-blown board committed. And, after the events of 2020, I had a look at those who agreed to support Tell Us Something as board members and realized that they were *all* white. The majority were cis-male. So, I am starting from scratch with board recruitment. I want to go beyond tokenism and have a truly diverse board committed to working together on the common goal of having Tell Us Something be an inclusive space for everyone to have an opportunity to share their story.

A strong founding board is an opportunity to get it right from the get-go, so I am recruiting BIPOC and gender-diverse board members as the process moves along.

Do you want to help? Are you ready to work? We will have quarterly meetings. I anticipate that your time commitment for the first year will be about 5 hours/month.
