Stanford study finds surprising upside of prescribed burns…duh…..
June 16, 2026/

In a study published in the journal Science on June 11, Stanford University researchers found that intentionally burning 500,000 acres of conifer forests in California every year could reduce wildfire smoke pollution overall by about 10% over a decade.

NOTE: Surprised that they’ve finally learned what nature had done for millions of years. Let the forest burn every few years and it removed the undergrowth that fuels crown fires. We need to let the forest burn when they need to but it’s going to take awhile before we get back to the balance that comes from regular low intensity ground fires. Maybe we’ll learn but maybe we won’t because there’s money in putting out forest fires. Russ
