Rural Oregon’s aging population: readers suggest tax reform, better infrastructure to spur economic growth

Readers posted more than 200 comments on a story Thursday morning exploring rural Oregon’s aging population and the challenges http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/12/oregons_fast-aging_rural_popul.html that presents for long-term economic growth.
Statistics from the Office of Economic Analysis show that deaths outpace births in 13 rural Oregon counties, indicating that those areas will struggle to maintain a healthy number of young, working-age households in the future.
