Report challenges policymakers: UM’s Running: ‘We still have time’ on climate

"If we don’t (stop burning coal) then it really just means that humanity is going to sail over the cliff. Until we quit burning coal, everything else we do is just small potatoes."
University of Montana climate scientist and Nobel laureate Steve Running said the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report should wake Montana policymakers up to the fact that global warming is real and humans are the primary cause, but it’s not too late to do something about it.
The U.N.-appointed IPCC released its latest findings in Stockholm on Friday.
