Private Lands Are the Next Battleground in State Conservation Policy

Montana farmer Sherwin Leep poses on his land, which is protected from development by a conservation easement. Montana lawmakers voted last year to give a state board authority to block new easements, arguing that they limit the property rights of future generations.
