Please help send University of Montana Student Lily Clarke to attend the UN Climate Change Summit

Lily Clarke

Hello, my name is Lily Clarke. I am currently a Masters student at the University of Montana, studying human community resilience to wildfire in the Western United States. This in conjunction with serving as a U.S. Forest Service wildland firefighter and growing up in rural Swan Valley, Montana allows me a comprehensive view of wildfire as a social, political, and ecological issue. I am also currently the president of the UM’s International Forestry Students Association, an international network of students committed to understanding and taking action on global environmental sustainability initiatives. All of this taken together is setting me up to pursue a career in environmental policy with an understanding that every issue must be comprehensively understood from a social, political, and ecological standpoint.

Thank you for considering my request for funds in order to attend the UN Climate Change Summit (https://www.un.org/en/climatechange/). I have the incredible opportunity to serve as a delegate to the Summit in Madrid, Spain from December 2-13, and am raising funds so that I may travel to Spain ($1300 round trip) and stay in a hostel ($1200 total) while I am there.

Attending the Summit is an incredible opportunity to shine a spotlight on the University of Montana and Montana’s efforts to support environmental sustainability. I plan to write an article in the Missoulian and hopefully the New York Times Opinion section on what I learned and what professional development I attained while attending the Summit. I thank you in advance for any support you may offer! If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your support!

Lily
