Passenger rail plan aims to reconnect Montana cities

The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority is making strides towards reintroducing passenger rail service in Montana. The plan aims to connect Montana to itself and the rest of the country using existing rail routes.
The Federal Railroad Administration has submitted a final report to the U.S. Congress, marking a significant step forward. The route will restore passenger service between Fargo, North Dakota, and Sandpoint, Idaho, a route that has not seen service in over 40 years.
The plan has been deemed feasible and would provide twice-daily service, with two trains running in each direction every day. This service will utilize existing rail infrastructure, enhancing it to accommodate both freight and passenger operations.
For those in the Missoula area, the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority will be discussing this plan at Great Burn Brewing on Thursday, January 23rd. Head to this ‘pint night’ to learn more about the exciting developments in Montana’s transportation future.
