Oregon VC funding held up OK in ’08

National venture capital investment fell by 8 percent in 2008 to $28.8 billion, according to data out Saturday from Dow Jones VentureSource. The decline steepened considerably in the fourth quarter, with total venture dollars falling by nearly 30 percent — the nation’s worst quarter since ’05.

Oregon’s tally was also down in ’08, but considering that ’07 had been a banner year (by the state’s historically mediocre standards), it wasn’t too bad.
