Montana’s only airshow just two weeks away

Kalispell’s upcoming airshow promises to thrill Montana crowds this Labor Day Weekend

Montanans are now counting the days to the Mountain Madness Airshow, the only airshow to be held in Montana during 2014. The airshow, featuring the United States Thunderbirds, is set for August 30 and 31 at the Glacier International Airport in Kalispell, Montana. Organizers anticipate up to 30,000 spectators from across Montana, Canada, and the Pacific Northwest will descend on Kalispell to experience the power of the Thunderbirds and a roster of sensational support acts.

"For Montanans, this airshow offers the perfect opportunity to finish to a great summer. We are excited to share a spectacular weekend with visitors from all over the state and believe this will be a top regional spectator event for 2014," said Chris Parson, Airshow Director for the Mountain Madness Airshow.

The airshow’s featured act, the Thunderbirds, will display the flying precision and professionalism of the United States Air Force. Additionally, attendees will be wowed by exciting aerial daredevil stunts, comedic acts and spur of the moment fly-bys. Spectators will also have the chance to view the world’s fastest jet-powered truck in action, which has been clocked at 375 mph.

On the ground, static displays and festival activities will be offered. From a Kid Zone, featuring a space shuttle play land for children, to a Mobile Interactive Aviation Museum, the airshow will offer entertainment for attendees of all ages. Food, craft beer, and merchandise will also be available for purchase.

To kick off the airshow, the Kalispell Chamber will host a Pre-Flight Party on August 29 at Depot Park in Kalispell. The event will feature a performance from Kayla Adams, a Kalispell native and rising country star. The Thunderbirds and airshow performers will be at the party to sign autographs and numerous family-friendly activities such as face painting and bounce houses will be offered. The Pre-Flight Party is free to attend and the public is encouraged to attend.
