Montana’s first no-load mutual fund on the rise. The Tarkio Fund from Front Street Capital Management

Last June, Missoula investment advisory firm Front Street Capital Management http://www.frontstreetcap.com/ launched Montana’s first no-load mutual fund.

The Tarkio Fund charges shareholders no commission or sales fees and allows a low minimum initial investment of $2,500. Its performance during the past seven months has garnered attention from the Wall Street Journal and a host of new shareholders, whose investments have raised its assets to $3.7 million.

But to Front Street president Russ Piazza, what’s more important is the firm’s unique approach to managing the new fund.
