Montana University Regents OK $1 billion budget, debate concerns over pay and priorities

The Montana Board of Regents unanimously approved Thursday a $1.47 billion budget for the state University System, despite some concerns that not enough money is going into instruction or faculty pay.

Trygve "Spike" Magelssen, an associate professor in electrical technology at Montana State University-Northern, told the regents that faculty pay on the Havre campus ranks the lowest in the nation and some instructors even qualify for food stamps.
