Montana Passenger Rail Update – New Website

Big Sky Rail Authority

Our new website specifically for the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority (BSPRA) board is up and running. From now on, if you wish to view information related to the BSPRA, please visit http://www.bigskyrail.org. Here, you can find upcoming meeting agendas, find past meeting minutes, donate, join our mailing list to receive the BSPRA agendas and much more. Don’t worry – if you signed up for the BSPRA mailing list on the other site, you will still be included to receive the agendas. From now on, you will also be receiving emails from [email protected] instead of [email protected]. We would appreciate any inquiries or comments going to the new email, as that will ensure a timely response to your message.

Our other website, http://www.montanapassengerrailsummit.org, will still have the videos and information from the Passenger Rail Summit that occurred in September 2020 as well as the “In the News” page, where you can find many articles featuring this effort, including a recent New York Times article. Also, make sure to stay tuned for more press coverage possibly coming from CBS News of San Francisco and High Country News!

Carbon County has recently petitioned to join the authority, and other counties are waiting in the wings. If your county has not joined the authority yet, is along the route the train would pass through, and you feel your county should join, make sure to reach out to your local elected officials, especially your county commissioners. There is power in numbers! Also, a reminder to everyone: let your members of Congress know the importance of maintaining and enhancing passenger rail service in Montana and across the nation.

Last but not least, there is still an effort afoot to establish a statewide passenger rail non-profit advocacy organization, so stay tuned! A small steering committee is working with a potential fiscal sponsor to help jumpstart the advocacy organization. In the coming weeks and months, there will be opportunities to volunteer your time and skills or donate funds to the new advocacy organization. We’ll keep you posted as opportunities arise!

Thanks to you all for your support over the past year. We know it has been a difficult one, and we appreciate the involvement, interest and care we’ve received for this project. Without you, this train wouldn’t be heading down the tracks!

All aboard!
