Mentoring Montana manufacturers: Five minutes with Dale Detrick, field engineer for the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center

Some blame corporate greed. Others say it’s an inevitable fact of doing business in an increasingly globalized economy. Whatever the cause, many Americans worry that the American manufacturing sector may someday disappear as jobs migrate to China and other low-wage countries.

Dale Detrick, who has been involved in manufacturing for most of his life, has witnessed the obvious pressures that globalization places on the nation’s manufacturing sector, both through his work as a field engineer for the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center http://www.mtmanufacturingcenter.com/ , and in his previous career as a consulting engineer. One thing that Montanans might not realize is that the Big Sky State has a surprising number of capable manufacturers.

"There are a lot of innovative people out there," Detrick said.
