Men behind new Montana film bill say cap kills growth
“The way the law stands now it is not sufficient to bring large numbers of producers into this state,” said Marshall Silverman, a consultant and one-time executive at Warner Bros. who wrote and lobbied for the bill along with friend Jeffrey Karinja.
Karinja agreed.
“The cap needs to be lifted as soon as possible,” he said. “That cap stalled all economic development.”
“We want to launch a large, modern, state of the art Hollywood production studio in Montana. In order to do that Montana has to have a tax incentive program that will attract large numbers of producers to come into the state with their projects and infuse the Montana economy with major outlays of production spent, ultimately creating thousands of good-paying jobs and generating large amounts of tax revenues for the state,” Silverman said
