Is your university capturing your skills and experiences to increase the value of your resume?

With recent college grads struggling in a brutal entry-level job market, one Massachusetts university is launching a “Second Transcript” to give its students an edge.

The new credentials from Brandeis University will capture a student’s skills and experiences, including internships, study abroad programs and other extracurriculars. Just like the standard transcript which lists courses and grades, students won’t be able to update the document themselves, so any accomplishments listed carry the credibility of Brandeis. 

How employers will use the new document remains to be seen, but for students, the true value may be learning how to sell their real-life skills to employers.
