BroadbandUSA Practical Broadband Conversations: Exploring Business Model Options for Broadband Deployment

Overview: There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to deploying broadband in communities, and this includes consideration of broadband business models. Join a conversation on successful broadband projects that will highlight three approaches that network owners have used to achieve their communities connectivity goals. The models include: a) Private owned/ public supported; b) Public owned/ private enabled; c) Joint public-private ownership. Representatives from network providers who have successfully employed each model will discuss the rationale for choosing a particular strategy, key benefits, and trade-offs

What is BroadbandUSA?
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) developed BroadbandUSA to provide assistance to stakeholders (government, industry, nonprofit) that want to expand their broadband capacity and promote broadband adoption. BroadbandUSA brings stakeholders together to solve problems, contribute to emerging policies, link stakeholders to other federal agencies and funding sources, and address barriers to collaboration across agencies.

* Publications: BroadbandUSA provides expert, impartial advice and field-proven tools for assessing broadband adoption, planning new infrastructure and engaging in a wide range of partners, especially private providers, in broadband projects. https://www2.ntia.doc.gov/publications
