Equal pay for equal work still a dream for Montana women
April 6, 2014 /
Michele Evans has tackled a lot of traditionally male jobs — logger, semi-driver, even slaughterhouse owner — but still the Park County woman is afraid to do something lots of men do.
"I have a huge fear of asking what the pay is," Evans told other women at last week’s Montana Equal Pay Summit. "What are we going to say to our granddaughters? (If they do ask) they may not get the job."
Fear of asking about money is just one of many reasons that explain why American women are still paid substantially less than men.
