ESSS-05
This year’s Symposium will be held in Big Sky, Montana from September 19 – 21, 2005. The annual Symposium will highlight research being performed at the INRA institutions, regional and national universities, National Laboratories, as well as others. Research activities within various topical areas will be presented.

ESSS-05 Keynote Speaker (Invited)
Senator Conrad Burns
Montana Republican Senator, United States Senate

Senator Conrad Burns, now in his third-term, is the longest-serving Republican Senator in Montana history. Senator Burns has pursued new markets for agricultural producers while securing millions of dollars in grants for research and marketing improvements.

Serving as Chairman of the Senate Interior Appropriations subcommittee, Senator Burns has jurisdiction over all the country’s federal lands and the National Park Service. As a result of his work in the Senate, funding has become available to safeguard acres of Montana through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Unmatched Networking Opportunity
The Symposium will provide attendees with an unmatched networking opportunity, as there will be researchers in several diverse and complimentary technical fields as well as policymakers who shape the national research agenda. Past Symposia have resulted in collaborative research teams being formed and competitive research proposals being awarded from a variety of federal sources.

Presentation Opportunities

We feel that this is an excellent opportunity for you to share research findings with colleagues, and that they will be of tremendous interest to INRA and the Symposium attendees. INRA invites you and your colleagues to submit abstracts for oral presentations. The technical work can be sponsored by any source (INRA, DOE, DoD, NSF, Etc.). Submission of multiple abstracts by a presenter is encouraged. For more information and abstract submission guidelines, please visit http://www.b-there.com/breg/esss05.

Student Poster Competition

The Symposium will once again feature a student poster session and competition. Students from both INRA and non-INRA universities are invited to participate in the judged competition. The top three poster winners will receive cash awards totaling $1750. For more information, and abstract submission guidelines, please visit http://www.b-there.com/breg/esss05.
