Ennis, Montana finishes Main Street traffic calming test project

Ennis traffic calming

As of Monday, Main Street Ennis is back to normal. Workers removed delineators that were part of a temporary pop-up project to try and slow down speeding vehicles coming from the main highway. Now, officials must analyze the feedback from the community to see what steps they will take moving forward.

“If it’s something the town is absolutely against, we won’t go forward with it,” said Mayor Blake Leavitt said when we visited Ennis in August.

“Having them down is less of a distraction,” said Selena Daems, an Ennis resident who drives down Main Street every day. “There’s other ways to adapt to growth. Our little Main Street is so confined as it is — I think having these parklets would be extremely dangerous.”

Leavitt stressed that something must be done about the speed of oncoming traffic.
