David W. Orr – “Down To The Wire: Local Responses To Climate Destabilization,”, 4/22, Montana State University, Bozeman

David W. Orr, author, professor of environmental studies, and advocate for ecological literacy, will give the keynote lecture of the Gallatin Earth Celebration at Montana State University. The talk, titled “Down to the Wire: Local Responses to Climate Destabilization,” is free and open to the public.

Orr is a professor at Oberlin College, dubbed one of the “greenest” campuses in the nation and led the effort to design and build the first substantially green college building in the United States. He has also served as an adviser to the Presidential Climate Action Plan, a two-year project that developed a menu of policy and program recommendations for President Obama. Orr’s most recent endeavor, the Oberlin Project, is a collaboration between the College and the City of Oberlin to stimulate sustainable urban revitalization projects in the community.

David Orr is the author of several influential books including: “Ecological Literacy,” “Earth In Mind,” “The Nature of Design,” and “The Last Refuge: Patriotism, Politics and the Environment.” His latest book is, “Down to the Wire: Confronting Climate Collapse.”
