City Club Missoula Presents: The Future Of Missoula County Fairgrounds – 6/12- Missoula

Featuring Emily Bentley, Director of Fairgrounds Development

Director of Fairgrounds Development Emily Bentley, charged with overseeing implementation of the county fairgrounds master plan and heading up the county fairgrounds department, will discuss progress on bringing that plan to life at City Club Missoula’s monthly forum June 12, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Missoula’s Doubletree Hotel.

Bentley, hired in January, said she works with the county and community to ensure that the 46-acre fairgrounds meets its mission to "promote agriculture, education, culture, recreation, and community connection, and reflects the beauty and history of western Montana." Implementation of the master plan will see "this critical space in midtown Missoula enhance its important role as an attractive, integrated focal point of the community, connecting Missoula’s rural heritage with our urban vibrancy." She said forums like City Club give the public opportunity to weigh in on what design should look like "on the ground." The fairgrounds hosts hundreds of events annually; 67,000 people attended 2016 Western Montana Fair. Admission to the fair in 2017 will be free.

Bentley, who also represents Ward 3 on the Missoula City Council, formerly served as multi-state campaign director for "Compassion and Choices," a national nonprofit. She has spearheaded a number of city plans.
