America will enter the 22nd century with a shrinking population unless immigration increases, according to new U.S. Census Bureau projections released Thursday.
And Montana is quickly getting older
The age group 65 and above, the fastest-growing segment, has increased by 46.8% from 2010 to 2021, with 19.6% of the population now aged 65 and older, marking a 4.7% increase. Additionally, individuals over 60 account for 26.72% of Montana’s total population of 1,104,271, up from 14.9% in 2010.
